PRESENTATION OF CD TO GOVERNOR Diane and I had an opportunity to present a CD to the Governor and have out photo taken with her in her office. Diane’s daughter Rose took a few other shots of us hanging out in the Rotunda.
KANSAS SAMPLER FESTIVAL We attended the 2007 Kansas Sampler Festival in Great Bend, KS. This event highlights Kansas products, places and community activities. Diane and I performed several of the songs karaoke style on the music stages throughout the weekend. It was a great place to get exposure for our CD.
GOVERNORS INAUGURAL BALL The Americana Music Academy was invited to perform at the 2008 Governors Inaugural Ball, and since many of the performers on the CD also are associated with the Academy, we decided to introduce many of the songs from the Kansas Song Project.
KANSAS FIDDLIN AND PICKIN COMPETITION While attending the 2006 Fiddlin’ and Pickin’ Competition in Lawrence, KS, we got together to practice a few of the songs we were going to be recording. This was the first time I was able to hear Woman of the Sojourn performed by Terri and Jollene.
